The design approach

This proposed reception application for Moss Construction uses Onyx Dawn 24x48 as the connecting element between a welcome desk, lounge seating, and a material display. The image combines a warm ivory floor with wood slats, glass, and a substantial reception counter. The space is conceived as a professional setting where visitors can see a coordinated material palette from the moment they enter.

Design challenge

A construction-company reception should support easy orientation while communicating attention to materials and detailing. The design challenge is to combine a welcoming client lounge with an orderly workplace entrance, avoiding a collection of disconnected finishes or competing focal points.

Layout and material direction

The proposal carries the onyx-look floor through the principal arrival zone and across the seating area. Warm veins connect visually with the timber features, while the pale field contrasts with the darker framing. The 24x48 layout would be coordinated with the desk, glass partitions, and display-wall modules. Tile setting-out should be reviewed alongside the architectural drawings so important joints and edges align intentionally.

Coordinated palette

Vertical wood slats add texture, dark metal defines the glazing, and neutral upholstered seating provides a softer element. A restrained display of finish samples gives the background a clear purpose. The floor remains the shared visual foundation, allowing each of these materials to retain its own character.

Specification review

Before specification, confirm suitability for the anticipated office traffic, cleaning procedures, and entry conditions. Coordinate substrate flatness, movement joints, adjacent floor heights, and accessibility requirements.
